Colinas del Mar Recreational Club is a large-scale leisure and wellness complex located in the lush landscape of the Risaralda–Caldas region of Colombia. Designed as an independent recreational unit adjacent to a residential development, the Club operates under its own
management structure, allowing for a high level of administrative autonomy and continuous maintenance from professional operators.
The 20,127 m² masterplan integrates nature, sports, gastronomy, and wellness into a unified architectural experience. Curved buildings embrace the pool decks, while walkable paths link sports courts, playgrounds, and social areas. The landscape design emphasizes native vegetation
and natural textures, creating a serene and tropical atmosphere throughout the entire complex.
The Club serves as a gathering point for residents and registered members, offering a comprehensive range of facilities—from culinary spaces and event halls to athletic courts and quiet relaxation areas—making it a destination designed for both recreation and community life.
The project began with an in-depth analysis of the site’s topography and environmental conditions, identifying optimal areas for pools, courts, and circulation paths. DR22 developed a masterplan that separates dynamic sports areas from quieter leisure zones while maintaining fluid
pedestrian connectivity .
Using BIM methodologies, the design team coordinated structural systems, roof geometry, shading strategies, and circulation flows across the diverse program. Special attention was placed on the positioning of the curved building volumes, pool terraces, and children’s play areas to
maximize sunlight, views, and usability .
Material selection focused on warm natural palettes, anti-slip surfaces for pool areas, and durable finishes suited for recreational and high-traffic environments. The landscape strategy reinforces the Club’s tropical identity, integrating gardens, shaded seating, and textured pathways.
The result is a comprehensive recreational destination designed to enhance community life, promote wellness, and create lasting experiences for families and visitors.
