The Martínez Residence is a contemporary single-family home located in Galapa, Colombia, designed in 2022 for a private client. The project reflects a clean and modern architectural language, combining sharp white
volumes with warm wooden accents to create a balanced atmosphere of sophistication and comfort.
The upper floor is characterized by floating geometric masses wrapped in vertical wooden slats that provide shading, privacy, and a distinctive identity . Large sliding glass panels on the ground floor open fully to the
exterior, merging the social areas with the outdoor deck, swimming pool, and landscaped garden.
The residence emphasizes indoor–outdoor living, allowing natural light to flood the interior while maintaining thermal efficiency . A protected terrace and integrated fire feature create a cozy gathering space, enhancing the
home’s functionality throughout the year.
The result is an elegant and efficient home tailored to contemporary family life and warm tropical climates.
The design process began with an analysis of the plot’s orientation, solar exposure, and desired privacy levels. DR22 developed a volumetry that maximizes natural lighting while using wooden louvers and recesses to
control heat gain in key areas.
BIM coordination ensured precision in façade detailing, structural planning, and the integration of large-format sliding glazing. Material selection focused on durability and low maintenance, balancing modern aesthetics
with practical requirements for the region’s weather conditions.
Outdoor areas—including the pool, deck, and landscaped perimeter—were designed as extensions of the interior, creating a cohesive flow that enhances daily living and social activities.
